Job Autopilot is a browser extension built by GoClickLess. Our whole product is designed around a simple idea: your career history is yours, and it should stay under your control. That belief shapes every technical decision we make.
We take a privacy-first, on-device approach. Your profile, your resume, your saved answers, and your application history are stored locally in your browser on the device you use, not on our servers. We only transmit data off your device when it is strictly necessary to generate the tailored text you asked for, and even then we send the minimum required to do the job. We do not sell your data, we do not build a database of resumes, and we do not train foundation models on your career information.
This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what we collect, what we do with it, what we deliberately never do, and the controls you have over your information.
When you set up Job Autopilot, you build a master profile. This can include your name, contact details, work history, education, skills, links (such as LinkedIn or a portfolio), your uploaded or imported resume, and reusable answers to common application questions. This information is stored locally on your device using your browser's extension storage. It is the source of truth for autofill and tailoring, and it stays on your machine unless a specific action (described below) requires sending part of it to generate text.
To tailor your resume or draft an answer for a specific role, the extension sends two things to our AI model provider: the text of the specific job posting you are applying to, and the relevant fields from your profile needed for that request (for example, the experience bullets and skills being tailored). We send only what is needed to produce that particular output, not your entire profile and not your application history. The generated text is returned to your device and stored locally with the rest of your data.
We may collect aggregate, anonymous usage and diagnostic information to keep the product reliable, such as which features are used, error and crash reports, and performance timing. This data is not tied to your identity and never includes the content of your resume, your profile fields, your answers, or the job postings you view.
If you choose a paid plan, we collect the information needed to manage your subscription, such as your email address and plan status. Payment card details are handled directly by our third-party payment processor and are not stored on our servers. We receive confirmation of your subscription status and the limited billing metadata required to service your account.
We use the information described above only to run and improve the service. Specifically, we use it to:

Generating tailored text requires a large language model. Job Autopilot uses one or more third-party AI model providers to produce your resume rewrites and drafted answers. To do this, the extension sends the specific job description plus the relevant profile fields for that request to our AI model provider(s). The provider processes that input solely to return the generated text back to your device.
We work to send only the data necessary for each request and to choose providers whose terms restrict use of submitted content to delivering the output. That processing is nonetheless subject to the applicable provider's terms and privacy practices. We refer to these providers generically as our AI model provider(s) because the specific vendor may change as we improve quality and reliability, but our commitments in this policy (no selling, no resume database, no model training on your data) apply regardless of which provider is in use.
Your profile, resume, saved answers, and application log live in your browser's local extension storage on your device. Your device is the source of truth. Because we do not keep a copy of this content on our servers, there is no central store of your career data for an attacker to breach.
When data must travel (for example, a request to the AI model provider), it is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) so it is protected in transit. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we design the product to minimize what leaves your device and to protect it while it does.
Because your data is stored locally, you decide how long it is kept. You are in control at all times:
Anonymous diagnostic data and, for paying customers, the limited billing records required for accounting and legal obligations are retained only as long as necessary for those purposes.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). These include the right to access the personal information relating to you, to correct it, to delete it, and to obtain a portable copy. Because your profile and resume data are stored locally, you can exercise access, correction, deletion, and portability directly through the export and delete controls in the extension at any time.
You also have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. This right is effectively already honored: we never sell your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. The Job Autopilot browser extension does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our marketing website uses only minimal, essential cookies and similar storage needed for the site to function (for example, remembering basic preferences). We do not use third-party advertising cookies to profile you across the web.
Job Autopilot is intended for people who are seeking employment and is not directed to children. The service is not intended for anyone under 16 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can address it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the product, our providers, or the law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of Job Autopilot after an update means you accept the revised policy.
